Frequently asked questions
What is Mateo AI Agent?
It is your business's booking and customer care assistant on WhatsApp: it answers frequent questions 24/7 and, on the Pro and Ultra plans, books, reschedules and cancels appointments and sends reminders. It only handles topics about your business. It works for clinics, beauty salons, vets, professional firms, estate agents, gyms, workshops and shops.
Which language does the assistant reply in?
Today the assistant replies to your customers in Spanish (Río de la Plata variety), and the blog and the legal pages are in Spanish. This page is a translation for reference.
How much does it cost?
There are 3 plans in euros (VAT included), all with a 15-day free trial, no card and no setup fee. Lite: €17.99 per month for the first 2 months, then €34.99 per month. Pro: €23.99 per month for the first 2 months, then €45.99 per month. Ultra: €28.99 per month for the first 2 months, then €51.99 per month. Meta's charges for WhatsApp messages are separate and paid directly to Meta.
How does the 15-day trial work?
You try the plan you choose for 15 days, without entering a card and with no setup fee. The billing order is: first, 15 days free with no card; then 2 months at the introductory price; from month 3, the full price. If you pay during the trial, you don't lose any trial days, and changing plan doesn't restart the trial.
What is the difference between Lite, Pro and Ultra?
Lite answers enquiries 24/7 with the agent name you choose and your business's basic info, up to 500 conversations per month. Pro adds full customisation, booking in Google Calendar or Outlook, invitations and reminders, confirmation or autonomous mode per action and the owner dashboard, up to 1,500 conversations per month. Ultra adds new features at no extra cost with early access, several calendars or practitioners, a monthly report, Meta message-saving mode, handover to a person with a summary of the conversation and priority support, up to 4,000 conversations per month. On every plan, in an emergency the agent alerts you and, in healthcare, gives the emergency number.
Does the Lite plan book appointments?
No. Lite does not book into calendars: each appointment request reaches you by email with the customer's details, the day and time and the reason, and the business confirms it. To have it book, reschedule and cancel on its own in Google Calendar or Outlook, choose Pro or Ultra.
Do new features cost extra?
On Ultra, all new features are included at no extra cost, with early access. On Lite and Pro, new features are paid add-ons. Bug fixes and security improvements are free on every plan.
How much does Meta charge for WhatsApp messages?
Meta charges separately, directly to your business's WhatsApp Business account. From 1 October 2026, each number gets 1,000 free service messages per month (replies within 24 hours of the customer's last message); from message 1,001 they are charged according to the customer's country, for example USD 0.026 per message in Argentina, USD 0.0085 in Mexico and USD 0.020 in Spain. Templates sent by the business, such as reminders, are charged from the first one. This is an estimate: Meta may change its rates.
What happens if I reach the conversation limit?
Lite includes up to 500 conversations per month, Pro up to 1,500 and Ultra up to 4,000. A conversation is a customer who writes after 24 hours of silence. When you reach 80% and 100% of your plan's limit we let you know by email. There is a 20% allowance; after that, new conversations receive "a member of the team will reply to you". An ongoing chat is never cut off and you can upgrade at any time.
What is Meta message-saving mode?
It's included in Ultra: it combines consecutive replies into a single message, doesn't reply to a closing "thanks", "ok" or 👍, makes use of the 24-hour service window and the free window of Click-to-WhatsApp ads (up to 7 days, according to Meta), and shows Meta's estimated cost. The free ad window opens with the business's first reply and can stay open for up to 7 days, according to Meta. To be cautious, we estimate with 72 hours, because Meta does not promise the full 7 days. How much you save depends on how your customers write to you.
What does it do in an emergency?
On every plan, in an emergency the agent alerts you and, in healthcare, gives the emergency number. On Lite, each appointment request also reaches you by email with the customer's details, the day and time and the reason, and the business confirms it. Handover to a person with a summary of the conversation is Ultra only.
Can I give my agent a different name?
Yes, on every plan. Each business chooses its agent's name; if you don't choose one, it is called Mateo. Whatever its name, it always introduces itself as an automated assistant.
Will it work for my industry?
If your business gets enquiries or appointment requests on WhatsApp, probably yes: health, beauty and hair salons, vets, professional services, estate agents, gyms, workshops and shops. You set it up yourself in minutes from your portal and decide what it handles on its own; if you get stuck, we help you by email (priority support on Ultra).
Does the assistant give diagnoses or recommend medication?
No. In healthcare it never diagnoses or recommends medication. In an emergency it alerts you and gives the emergency number (in Argentina, 107 for medical emergencies).
Who sets up the assistant?
You do: you set it up in minutes from your portal, with the step-by-step guide at /en/empezar/; if you get stuck, we help you by email (priority support on Ultra).

How do I connect my WhatsApp after signing up?
From your portal, which is enabled when you sign up, with nothing to download: you tap "Connect WhatsApp", log in with your Facebook account, accept the permissions, enter the business number, verify it with a code by SMS or call, choose or create your business portfolio and set the display name. It takes 7 steps, in about 5 to 10 minutes. Meta charges for its messages directly to your Meta account, separately from your plan.

Can I keep using my WhatsApp number?
Yes, if you already use it in the WhatsApp Business app: you can connect that same number and keep using the app (coexistence), as long as the app is up to date and you open it on your phone at least once every two weeks. Groups are not handled by the assistant and some app features change. We don't import your previous chats: Mateo starts replying from the moment you connect it. If your number is on regular (personal) WhatsApp, first move it to the WhatsApp Business app or use another number.
Requirements and what changes in the app
What data about my customers does it store?
Only what is needed to manage appointments: name, phone number, service and time. It does not ask for ID numbers or medical records. Your business is the data controller and Mateo AI Agent acts as data processor, under Argentina's Personal Data Protection Law 25.326.
Is it designed around WhatsApp Business rules?
Yes, it is designed around Meta's 2026 rules: Meta does not allow general-purpose assistants on the WhatsApp Business API, but it does allow assistants dedicated to business tasks such as appointments and customer service. Mateo is your business's assistant and only answers questions about your business.
Does it answer phone calls?
Not yet. Today it handles WhatsApp only. Answering phone calls is coming soon.
Does it work with my calendar?
Yes, on the Pro and Ultra plans. It connects to your business's Google Calendar or Outlook and books appointments on its own, with the customer's details and no double bookings. It sends the customer an invitation to add the appointment to their own calendar (Google, Outlook or .ics file). Ultra adds several calendars or practitioners. Lite does not book: it takes the appointment request details and emails you.
